I am hoping to go if it is in the beginning of April.

I was in Las Vegas this past March. We stayed on the strip when we were there. I think staying on the strip is a much better choice than staying in downtown LV. It would be more expensive but I think it would be worth it. There is sooo much to see and do in walking distance if you stay on the strip. Downtown is kinda seedy in my opinion.
