I couldn't find the difference between intel and amd processors... so I guess I don't care at this time. I am an expert *user* of computers till now. I go to different offices, and work on whatever PC that is offered to me. Never bothered to find-out what makes them tick. This would be my first purchase for home use of PC. Till now, I was making do with a PC I borrowed from my friend, which she needs back now. Its a slowwwwwww machine with 2GB hard disk (50MB free), a pentium and unkown speed. No sound card, no speakers, 1 floppy drive, 1 CDROM drive, Windows 95 OS and one broken port (don't ask me if its serial or parallel).
Now, I need to upgrade to something with USB ports, to run my camcorder and Handspring Visor. sound card, speaker and mic for PC-to-phone or PC-to-PC calls and lot of memory to download all sorts of softwares I keep "needing". A lot of RAM to open several applications at a time. I just thought I'd buy something that has a sound card, speaker, mic 20 GB hard disk and 128 or 256 MB RAM. Looks like I need to do more research :-(
Why can't things be simple?
Uh, yes, I'm in CA, so 8% sales tax. Maybe I could buy from some non-tax state like Texas or something.... But then, I may run into problems with the PC and have a tough time shipping the PC back and forth...
